June 26, 2004 By: Lawrence Bosh Panasonic Canada brings interactive displays to 2003 MXE Series Car CD PlayersBacked by MOS-FET circuitry, Super High Definition Bass and plenty of built-in power, the Panasonic Canada’s MXE line of car stereos have become a powerful force in the industry. The 2003 models — boast an easy-to-use human interface, the addition of WMA capability to all the new MP3 compatible models and a breathtaking new look. Ease of use is a big selling point of these new car stereos. All of the new models feature an enhanced, user-friendly menu function and large rotary knob. The result is high-powered models with an earth-shaking sound that are also simple to control. Striving to bring today’s most popular home technologies into the mobile environment, Panasonic boldly introduces five new models with WMA-compatibility — the CQ-HX2083U, CQ-HX1083U, CQ-DFX983U, CQ-DFX883U and CQ-DFX683U. Now, home-recorded CDs that have been created using the popular WMA software included on Microsoft-driven home computers can also be enjoyed on the road. In addition to its high-powered capabilities, the 2003 line also possesses tremendous fashion appeal. This new cosmetic look, included in the CQ-DFX983U, CQ-DFX883U, CQ-DFX683U, CQ-DFX403U and CQ-DPX153U, takes Panasonic’s blue signature display and frames it with a new eye-catching black chrome-finished faceplate. Adding to its good looks is a new slim-fit mount design for an elegant and sleek-fitted look that rivals OEM equipment. We’re really excited about the products in this year’s MXE line, said Karem Banna, Product Manager, Mobile Entertainment. In addition to head units that can deliver up to 240 watts of built-in power, these new car stereos feature a number of high-end extras that will easily impress even the most discerning car audio enthusiast. This year’s MXE models all boast enhanced, eye-catching displays that burst with colour. The top-of-the-line CQ-HX2083U and CQ-HX1083U are highlighted by a one-of-a-kind Ghost™ display. This second-generation technology boasts a touch-sensitive, multi-coloured LCD display that encompasses much of the system’s face. The display’s colours can be changed at whim to match the listener’s mood or preference. They can also be switched off, turning pitch black and blending easily with the dash to deter potential thieves. And as with the original technology, the Ghost display is free of buttons and knobs for easy operation. Panasonic’s High Definition 3DDM graphics (found in the CQ-HX2083U with variable colour and blue illumination on the CQ-DFX983U) bring a fun, interactive element to the mobile listening experience. Thanks to its dedicated, high-capacity display memory, the head units show complex action patterns with rich 3-D graphic variety. Included for the listener’s viewing pleasure are illustrations ranging from a Formula One Panasonic/Toyota racecar scene to a snowboard graphic and a space scene, all of which pulse and move to the beat of the music.
