Kenwood USA Corp., introduced its latest line of regular-line car audio amplifiers

Kenwood USA Corp. America's fastest-growing major brand in the car audio aftermarket, introduced its latest line of regular-line car audio amplifiers - 10 models - at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show here today.

Breaking new ground, Kenwood unveiled its most powerful 2-channel amp, the 1000-Watt KAC-929. Overall, this year's amplifiers feature higher power ratings than earlier models, and improved cosmetics by using aluminum housings, powder coatings, new graphics and badges.

From the inside out, our amps have been redesigned to deliver more power, dissipate heat more efficiently, and offer a look that just screams power, said Steve Berry, Kenwood's national product manager for mobile electronics. Our new finned casing designs call to mind American motorcycle engines and hot rods, not audio amplifiers.

We've even gone so far as to have the same company that makes logo badges for the number one American motorcycle manufacturer make Kenwood badges for these new amps.

Designed to meet the demanding requirements of 'dB Drag' events popular with autosound enthusiasts, the new KAC-929 is a 2-channel amp rated at 1000-watt peak power.

Driven in two channels at four ohms, the amp pumps out a continuous 150 watts of music power; when bridged to provide one channel amplification, the KAC-929 will yield continuous power of 460-watts.

Kenwood employs a new 'Expander Circuit' in the KAC-929. The Expander Circuit is designed to boost high-level input signals while attenuating the low-level input signals, providing a punchy solid bass response while effectively suppressing unwanted 'booming' often heard in car audio systems. The Expander Circuit is user controllable with an on-off switch on the amp.

In addition to the Expander Circuit, Kenwood introduces 'Bass Boost' to four of its new amps. Bass Boost offers a +6dB and +12dB boost on the KAC-929 and KAC-819, while offering a +6dB boost on the KAC-749S and KAC-849, with a center frequency at 90Hz for all four models.
