Kenwood unveiled its new 2004 car audio loudspeaker line

Kenwood, a leading brand of mobile entertainment products, unveiled its new 2004 car audio loudspeaker line, introducing a 'P' Series component line featuring new titanium oxide woofer cones for fast, accurate sound propagation, and Kenwood’s exclusive Image Enhancer tweeter for better high frequency sound dispersion.

A second line, new 'S' Series speakers, comprising three two-way models and three dual cone models, feature a new 'dimpled' woofer design and 60% larger magnets, providing better sound quality and more power handling.

New materials and better designs keep pushing up the performance levels of our speakers, said Rick Noetzli, Kenwood product manager for car electronics. These are great sounding products at very affordable prices.

The P Series component speakers are competitively priced for enthusiasts who demand the performance benefits of separate woofer and tweeter configurations. The six S Series speakers, in three sizes to fit most standard speaker mounts, allow for quick, easy replacement of original equipment.

Kenwood P Series Component Speaker The new P Series Component Speaker line consists of three packages: the KFC-P705ie, based on a 7-inch woofer; the KFC-P605ie, using a 6.5-inch woofer, and the KFC-P505ie, with 5.25-inch woofer. All packages are equipped with Kenwood’s UFLC Image Enhancer tweeter and include a component crossover. The P Series employ Kenwood’s exclusive TiO cone, which is embedded with titanium oxide crystals and gives the speaker cone a silver color.

The lightweight yet rigid material yields a woofer cone with outstanding response for fast sound propagation and high-fidelity sound reproduction. The P series tweeters offer Kenwood’s 'UFLC' tweeter design incorporating Kenwood’s exclusive Image Enhancer technology. The Image Enhancer is a computer-designed bezel that reduces destructive sound wave refractions, widening dispersion and letting all passengers hear smooth, natural sound.

The new S Series line consists of two 6.5-inch, two 5.25-inch, and two 4-inch round speakers; each speaker is sold in a 2-way woofer-tweeter configuration and in a more affordable Dualcone configuration. All S Series speakers incorporate Kenwood’s new 'dimpled' cone, which employs a woofer cone formed with several small round 'dimples' along its surface, creating a very rigid but light cone.

The cone provides the same natural sound found in paper but with the strength and durability needed for the harsh mobile environment. Magnets are 60% larger than previous models, increasing power handling to as much as 150W in 6.5-inch models.

New mounting tabs on the 6.5-inch speakers, allow for placement in oversize 6.5-inch applications found on some GM vehicles. To complete the speaker line revision and make changes as apparent to the eye as to the ear, Kenwood has given both lines new stylish grille designs.
