June 25, 2004 By: Scott Jasper Rumble Road amplified stereo speakers for motorcycles bridge to new product offering, with equal emphasis on ease-of-use, 'cool' factorsPowersports electronics manufacturer MH Instruments, home of the original Rumble Road stereo speakers for motorcycles, has introduced AudioBoss, a small audio system controller, or pre-amplifier, designed specifically for the demanding environments of motorcycles and other powersports vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles. With AudioBoss, riders can quickly and easily adjust audio settings while on the go instead of fumbling around with the tiny buttons or bulky knobs found on most personal or car stereo hookups, said Mauro Dresti, MHI co-founding partner. AudioBoss encourages riders to keep their eyes on the road, track or trail, where they belong. Housed in lightweight, highly polished billet aluminum, AudioBoss' compact, industrial design features fingertip, digital control of the volume, balance, base and treble settings on virtually any portable stereo radio, MP3, CD or cassette player, as well as on many car stereo installations on bikes, trikes, quads or sleds. A master on/off power switch controls the entire audio system with one touch. Flat-sided metal toggle switches provide better tactile feedback – even through gloves, while blue and red LEDs provide at-a-glance visual confirmation of settings in a departure color pairing that directs focus without being distracting. In developing AudioBoss, Dresti said, We had penciled in the idea of developing a bike-centric audio controller down the road, but a growing number of customers who had installed our Rumble Road speaker systems started asking for a pre-amp sooner than planned. We fast-tracked the design and development, surveyed customers for input, and fine-tuned AudioBoss as an extension of our core Rumble Road products. AudioBoss' precision-machined, lightweight billet aluminum housing and clear powder-coated weather-resistant finish together provide optimal functionality in all climates without sacrificing the luster of polished metal. Easily installed on handlebars or any other likely site within easy reach, MHI's small-footprint audio controller measures 3-1/8 inch wide by 2-1/8 inch tall by 1 inch deep. Off-the-shelf, surface-mounted internal circuitry promotes equipment compatibility, reliability and durability. And, a designed-in universal line-level input feature facilitates compatible hookup with most stereo installations, including CD changers.
