Alpine bolsters its best-selling type-S speaker line with new component speakers and subwooofers

Alpine Electronics of America, Inc., the industry-leading manufacturer of high performance mobile electronics, is strengthening its line of top-selling Type-S speakers with two new component speaker sets and four new subwoofers for 2004. Alpine's Type-S speakers and subwoofers are designed to be the best sounding, best fitting and best looking speakers and subwoofers in their class.

Alpine's Type-S speakers deliver a level of clarity and bass performance typically only found in more expensive speakers. The new 2004 SPS-171A 6.5-inch and SPS-571A 5X7-inch component sets feature external crossovers, one-inch soft dome tweeters that can swivel up to 25° for optimal sound imaging, and a woofer with an incredibly large and efficient magnet that enables large power handling and bass all the way down to 35 hz.

Type-S speakers are designed to deliver big bass whether using the built-in power of a head unit or a large external amplifier. The Linear Drive Magnet, a dual radial magnet with a two-gap, one-voice coil structure, enables the Type-S woofer's diaphragm to increase linear movement over a larger frequency range. The result is lower distortion even during long stroke at high volume. The woofer's center-mounted Wave Guide aligns sound waves for more precise reproduction of the sound and sound image.

Extensive vehicle research was performed to increase the application flexibility for all Type-S speakers. The frame was tooled to maximize cone size, yet minimize cutout and mounting depth requirements needed to fit most vehicle doors. Both $200 component speaker sets come with adapters for easy installation into a greater number of vehicles without the need for additional and costly modifications.

In 2004, Alpine will continue to offer its top-selling Type-S coaxial line with seven different models at prices ranging from $70 to $120.

Alpine has also redesigned its Type-S subwoofer line for 2004 to deliver loud and clean performance when matched up with an Alpine V-Power or V12 amplifier. The 2004 Type-S subwoofer line includes four new models -- 10- and 12-inch dual 2-ohm subwoofers and 10- and 12-inch dual 4-ohm designs.

All 2004 Type-S subwoofers have a new brushed aluminum finish to compliment the Type-S family look. This strong, lightweight cone enables the subwoofers to produce deep, accurate bass even at high levels of SPL.
